Simultaneous Communication does not preserve both languages, one language always suffers and often times that language is ASL. This design reminds us to pick a language. Research has shown that when learning a new language full immersion is key. Yes, sometimes SIM-COM happens but in the classroom its better to keep those languages separated. A wonderful reminder is SIM-COM OFF!
